Today was quite different than the preceding three days of visiting genocide memorial sites. This morning we visited a TIG prison farm and camp in the Bugesera district about an hour outside of Kigali. Our 2nd Peacemaker Institute Rwanda Bearing Witness Retreat began this afternoon with orientation, introductions, and a really powerful film called Longcoat, written and directed by an amazing young Rwanda filmmaker/actor/poet. We have 16 international participants and 32 - 35 Rwandan participants, leaders and senior staff with the key Rwandan NGO's and government agencies working for healing, reconciliation and genocide prevention. thx 4 your message, we are working hard to get the 2morrow event done in a successful way.
We're leaving Kigali tomorrow morning to reach CYOME in the South of the country around 9h00!From there we will be commemorating our beloved killed during the genocide and thrown in the river near there!
We will also inaugurate a wall of memory, from which will be posted some of the names of victims.
I will let u know how the event was.
